Vernal Youth Cleared After Auto Crash
Vernal youth Owen T Caldwell aged 16 was released from county hospital after severe head lacerations from a crash Monday on U 44 near Kabell Gorge. His jeep rolled 600 feet down a slope, two passengers Gloria Wardell and Mickey Goodrich were unharmed. Caldwell to be cited for driving at excessive speed for existing conditions per Trooper Mack Helm.

Verbal Youth Burns in Gas Explosion During deer hunt
Larry Cooper 18 of Vernal suffered severe gasoline burns when a gas line repair on his truck ignited near Iron Springs. The truck burned, a small forest fire started, and Cooper was treated locally before being moved to LDS Hospital Salt Lake for a five week stay.
