Maintaining Egg Quality Through Proper Handling and Care
Dr C I Draper of Utah State University advises on preserving egg quality from lay to market. Maintain litter and ventilation for floor operations, dust cages, gather eggs five times daily in heat and three times in cold, and cool quickly to 60 to 54 degrees with 80 to 85 percent humidity. Load and transport with care, market two to three times weekly, and avoid bumps to prevent cracking and value loss.
