Indians Gain Vote Rights for Uintah Reservation
Attorney General Grover A Gillespie writes that Uintah Reservation Indians will be able to vote on November 5 for the first time in years if Utah party officials follow his opinion. The ruling limits voting rights to those living on closed reservations where land was restored from public domain and later to private ownership. The decision underscores eligibility criteria under the statute and favors granting suffrage to citizens residing at the Uintah reservation.
