Foreman Dies in Vernal Auto Crash Near Manila
A crash Sunday night near Vernal fatally injures CCC foreman Francis L Johnson and seriously injures three others while four more are left with non fatal injuries. The injured were en route from Davis and Utah counties to the Manila camp when the sedan struck a bridge. Sheriff investigators probed the scene as a standard 1939 Utah traffic incident. Johnson, a Provo resident, left a wife and five children.

Vernal CCC Camp Remains in Vernal This Winter
Lt J Prokop announced the Vernal CCC camp stays in Vernal through at least April 1. Rumors of moving to the White River site were raised but water and sanitary concerns for a 200 man camp in Arizona scuttled the plan. The spike camp may stay in the White River area.
