Utah Oil Men Rally Against Higher Lease Fees
Utah oil men protest proposed federal changes to mineral leasing rules led by Rep. Ken Regan. They argue the 5 year lease at 60 cents an acre for the first three years and 25 cents for the remaining two is fair, while Regan backs a rental fee of 80 cents per acre per year. The measure aims to fund western reclamation, but locals fear increased costs and racketeering accusations are mentioned in the text.
