Boxelder bugs are becoming a bigger issue as cooler weather approaches says Clair Record County Agricultural Agent. They invade homes when outdoor numbers rise, stain curtains, and become harder to kill indoors. Outdoors control is best to prevent indoor invasions. they are difficult to kill inside. Suggested methods include 5 percent DDT in kerosene or 75 percent chlordane emulsifiable concentrate in 2 gallons of water, sprayed where they cluster on sidewalks and tree trunks. Residents can request Extension Circular 163, Controlling the Boxelder Bug, from the Extension office in Uintah County.
