Pvt Wallace Gail Twitchell 20 of Whiterocks was killed in Korea. Born January 25 1930 in Vernal he enlisted in May 1950 at Fort Douglas after training at Port Cal. He was the son of Mr and Mrs Wallace Twitchell and brother of other siblings. He sent a letter the day before his death expressing hopes to return home soon.

Gilsonite worker killed in accident near Jensen
A Gilsonite company worker, James E Lenartz, 44, of Bonanza, was killed when his company car failed to negotiate a turn eight miles east of Jensen on Highway 40. The car rolled three times, injuring Lenartz and a passenger, Bruce Cols, who were treated for injuries. The driver and passenger were identified, and funeral services were planned with services conducted at the Caled church.
