Naples Water Project to Deliver Culinary Water by Dec 20

Naples residents will receive culinary water by December 20 under an $85,000 project supplying 123 homes between 5th West and 5th South. Four miles of six inch pipe plus extensions, funded by a $50,000 Farmers Home Administration loan, with connections costing $298 each. The plan includes a public pool site vote and community pool location discussions for Uintah County.

Four File For Post on School Board

Four candidates including Victor Wilkins Hyrum C Toone John E McNaghton and Dr F G Eskelson filed for the five year District 2 school board seat covering Ashley North and South Vernal City and South Vernal precinct. Election day is December 7 with polls 7 am to 8 pm at the county courthouse Ashley LDS ward chapel and Central school. Only registered voters may vote and interest in the race is high.

Taxes Delinquent Date Set For Uintah County

Uintah County and Vernal City taxes become delinquent on November 30 at noon per County Treasurer May Samuels who notes less than half of tax funds have been paid. Stake Roadshow in Four Wards Set for Nov 29

A stake roadshow will entertain ward members Tuesday evening November 29. Four circuits of wards rotate acts from 7 30 p m with musical numbers between performances. Judges pick the outstanding drama which will be shown to Rangely and Bonanza branches.

Bancroft Released From Hospital in Vernal Report

Basin Flying Service co owner Bud Bancroft was discharged from a Grand Junction Colorado hospital after two operations. Mrs. Gib Bennett reports he left the hospital November 1 and will not travel to Vernal for some time.

Charles Bartlett Dies at 89 Former Editor of The Vernal Express

Charles Bartlett 89 longtime Ashley Valley resident and former editor of The Vernal Express died in a Salt Lake hospital from a heart ailment. He was born August 27 1869 in Mountain Dell Salt Lake County and moved to Ashley Valley in 1879. Bartlett served LDS Church roles including stake clerk counselor to the stake president and presiding elder of Tridell. He edited The Vernal Express after partners owned it and later remained an editor. Survived by son George W Bartlett seven grandchildren two brothers and three sisters. funeral held at Tridell LDS ward chapel burial in Tridel cemetery.

Utah Colorado Gas announces a Vernal showroom opening on East Main near Highway 49. Owners Kier plan to distribute butane and propane locally and display a large line of appliances in a 25 by 40 foot building. Deliveries reach Uintah basin to Currant Creek, Strawberry, Artesia, and Rangely with 80 percent of gas from Rangely plant.
