Apostle Rodger Clawson of Salt Lake preached at the Uintah Stake conference held last weekend in Vernal and at the ward house. Apostle Rudge Clawson emphasized debt avoidance and honest living, with Prof. A B Anderson on the soul's immortality and President Smart urging diligence and industry amid the financial crisis. The Vernal city council met with most members present and Mayor absent. The main action approved routine bills and heard reports from the recorder justice of the peace and treasurer while instructing counsel to proceed with perfecting the city incorporation. Bishop Alonzo Brinkerhoff reports Emery lucern seed crop is two thirds smaller than last year. Last year eleven or more carloads were shipped and seed paid about $50 000 to growers. this year he expects only three carloads and a crop near $15 000. Seed sells for 12 to 16 cents per pound to quality.

Born Watertown New York April 1815 he joined the Mormon church as a child and traveled with the Saints across America and to the Sandwich Islands on multiple missions.

Death of T. Taylor in Dragon after long illness
Teancum Taylor died at Dragon last Sunday November 17 after an illness of nearly a year. He suffered a March horse injury and his son Ruben died last summer while Cap Taylor had disappeared from home, prompting family worry. Funeral held in Vernal ward house with Bishop John N. Davin conducting. burial in Vernal cemetery. Born December 21, 1636 in Missouri, he lived in Utah over fifty years and left a wife and eight children. Known for service in the Black Hawk War and Loyal support to church, he helped haul timber for Ashley valley cabins from Taylor mountain.
