The Vernal Chamber of Commerce voted unanimously Tuesday to oppose a proposed 15% increase in local freight rates. Support comes from the Utah Retail Grocers Assn and Salt Lake City Chamber of Commerce with legal counsel to represent them at the November 26 hearing.

Nelson Construction Co of Salt Lake City the apparent low bidder at 187 380 with other bids ranging from 102 262 to 290 240. The engineer's estimate was 100 924 and snow and storms have hampered access road work. Lincoln Nebraska based bidders also listed.
