Republican ticket sweeps local results as Colton and nearby areas deliver large majorities. Mabey and Dern congratulate supporters in their offices, praising party workers and expressing gratitude to Democrats Progressives and Republicans alike amid statewide results and radio updates from major cities.
Ula Refining rushes the Vernal structure test with plans for a deep well tearing the three sands. Weather and muddy roads slowed equipment. operations expected to start next week on 12 hour shifts as geologists praise Vernal as potential top oil field in the country.
Plans for Vernal Armistice day unveil the Uintah county Soldier Memorial with bronze name plates to honor World War heroes. The event draws attendees from Uintah and Duchesne counties and Salt Lake City. O J Grimes may bring a movie crew.
Preparations are underway for a Dec 2 centennial birthday celebration honoring Dr Harvey Coe Hul tlinger the oldest Civil War veteran in Utah The Ashley valley joins Vernal for the event where Hul linger will unveil the soldier memorial on Armistice Day
Mrs Sarah Wimmer writes from Monterey Park California renewing her subscription. She says California is pleasant but not home and her heart stays in Vernal and its surrounding settlements where the pure breezes blow and occasional snow cleans the streets.
Word from Salt Lake City says James H Wallis executive secretary of the Utah Public Health association and former editor of the Vernal Express was operated on at I D S hospital Friday morning. The operation was very successful and the patient resting as well as could be expected. No anesthetic was administered.
The Vernal Express provided a live bulletin board using the Radola Super Heterodyne radio set. Des Moines was early in clear reception while other stations came through clearly despite a northwest storm, thanks to Roy Coupe of the Vernal Electric company.
Returns from Willow precincts show 37 votes cast with 3 for Davis. Republican electors listed many with 34 votes each and 3 for their opponents. Other totals include Parker 32, Norton 1, Siddoway 29, O'Donnell 36, and McConnell 32.
The county court house vault and filing system cost nearly 5000 dollars. The filling cabinets are installed but no stored records have been placed in the vault yet.
