Groundwork laid for Artesia Chamber of Commerce
Artesia leaders held a Saturday meeting at the Cot House with about 35 residents and business figures to form an organizing committee for a chamber of commerce. They discussed town problems including no fire protection, lack of first aid and medical services, and representation at county meetings. A town meeting and elections were scheduled for Tuesday with Forrest Lopez and others named to represent Artesia at upcoming school district talks.
