Uintah youths to exhibit at Intermountain Junior Fat Stock show

Approximately 85 Uintah Basin youths from FFA and 4 H clubs will exhibit and sell over 150 baby beeves and six milkfed lambs at the Intermountain Junior Fat Stock show in Salt Lake City next week. Local leaders expect about $35 000 from the sale with many prize entries including grand champion baby beef and reserve grand champion steer from Uintah show winners.

Coyote Hunters Turn In Payouts at Commission Meeting

Legion Schedules Meeting to Explain GI Bill of Rights

Under American Legion sponsorship a meeting to explain Readjustment Allowance provisions of the GI Bill of Rights is set for Tuesday June 4 at 8 pm in the county courthouse. Doug las Chew Leston notes Utah Department of Employment Security representative Ellis Johnson will outline unemployment and self employment benefits for veterans seeking farm or independent business ventures. A June 4 session will also offer help completing self employment claims for eligible veterans.

Fire at John Bannister Residence Controlled by Vernal Volunteers

A fire Wednesday morning at the John Bannister residence northwest of Vernal, near West Ward chapel, was brought under control by the Vernal Volunteer Fire Department before damage occurred. The blaze started when a hot water heater exploded around 8:30 AM.

Open House At Sky Harbor Airport Draws Hundreds

J Turvey formerly of San Diego California opens a new shoe repair shop this week in the Vernal Auto building just south of the United State. He introduces Landes stitcher and minisher and cement presses. Turvey has 12 years experience as a shoe repairman in San Diego and Idaho.

Lewis E. Collier Dies Here Monday

Lewis Earl Collier age 35 died Monday morning at his Naples home from complications of a diabetic condition. He was born May 28, 1911 in Verpal to Joseph and Myrtle Collier. Glines Ward Plans Reunion Saturday

Glines Ward will hold a ward reunion Saturday June 1 for all members and former residents. The ward bishopric led by Bishop Ernest Johnson Martin Curtis and Steven Perry oversees events.
