Elis Wins in Eight Round Legional Boxing Bout

New Shell Station Opens in Ashton Next to Post Office
June 1 marks the formal opening of the Ashton Shell station on the corner west of the post office. Howard B Woolley continues in charge, overseeing three 1 inch pumps for regular Shell Ras and Shell Super fuel. A full Shell product line, Penzell, Goodyear tires, washing, greasing, and tire repair services are offered. The station features two washing pits, flood lights, a Neon sign, and red and orange Shell colors along the main highway.

Neola Man Clifford Mitchell Dies at Vernal Hospital
Clifford Mitchell of Neola died at Vernal Hospital after ten years of illness. Born November 1889 in Frances Utah he weighed 440 pounds at death and once, with seven brothers, weighed 2200 pounds total. Funeral services planned in Neola with details pending.

The American Legion in Vernal plans a full day event with a daylight color salute, bugle calls, and band concert, a 11 o'clock patriotic program with Congressman Den B. C. State to Enforce Noxious Weed Law During Vernal Visit
Commissioner Harden Bennion of the Utah Department of Agriculture announced during a Vernal visit that the department will pursue weed eradication and control for the next months. The board designates noxious weeds and may charge landowners for eradication costs on the county tax rolls if orders are not followed, targeting species such as whitetop thistle cockle burr morning glory and burdock to protect land values and agricultural income.
