Gun Attack in Vernal Over Rival's Suitor Sparks Barroom Incident
E B Hampton local honey producer armed with a 45 pistol confronted J I Rutz bookkeeper of Midwest Oil in Vernal after a conflict over a girl. Hampton was disarmed by Rutz and the two men were taken to the city office. Hampton posted $500 bond on a filing for assault with a deadly weapon. Rutz described defending himself and escaping unharmed. Funeral notices and local obituaries accompany the report.

Funeral services were held in Roosevelt for Harrison Ball a 50 year old former Vernal resident who died after a long illness. Ball was born in North Carolina and moved to Utah in 1887 settling in Layton before relocating to the Uintah Basin. He is survived by his wife three children and siblings Jamima Rochell Ellen Ball James Ball and T Slater Ball.
