Vernal Hearing Set on Dinosaur Monument Expansion Plan
A hearing in Vernal Saturday will examine a proposed Dinosaur National Monument expansion including adding 27 246 acres and a 1000 foot wide scenic corridor. The plan adds a major visitor center at Pats Hole, new campgrounds and river ramps, and a new Artesia area complex with offices and housing. Officials warn the project could hinder local livestock and water developments and would require long highway routes from Artesia or Miner's Draw to Blue Mountain Junction. The outcome may impact regional power and water projects and state road costs.
