Lions Club backs Uintah County Boys Scout group

The Lions Club unanimously agreed to sponsor the Uintah county Boys Scout organization at the dinner meeting. A guaranteed 250 dollars will go to the Tim panogas council with the club identifying the unit. The club will raise the rest by subscription and new officers meet at the Community House to organize the program.

Monument planned for Father Iscalante site in Uintah Basin

Utah officials outline July Fourth ceremonies to unveil a bronze tablet honoring Father Iscalante near Jensen. State engineer Heubert Simpson and Utah Society of the Sons of the American Revolution reps will choose the monument site, with a banquet at the Commercial Hotel and folding chairs arranged for attendees.

Uintah County teachers sign reemployment contracts list

Lapoint Principal Defends Policies at Board Meeting

Proposed Uintah Basin oil shale plant to open by 1930

The Nevada Texas Utah company plans an $8 million oil shale development in the Uintah Basin on the Colorado Utah border. If built by 1930 the plant could tap vast shale beds in western Colorado and eastern Utah, creating thousands of jobs and a major regional industry.

Communion urged among Uintah Basin churches

Protestant representatives from Ninteh and Duchesne counties met at the Vers na Congregational church in Vernal to press closer communion among Uintah Basin churches. Rev Charles B Schod and Rev E M Parker spoke urging regular meetings. attendance included Episcopal and Presbyterian congregations. about sixty people attended from nearby areas.

Gold Extraction Plant Planned on Green River Banks

New plan calls for a gold extraction plant on Green River banks 18 miles south of Vernal at Horseshoe Bend with dredges to recover fine gold from sands. June 1 construction starts, plant due by July 1, Vernal serving as headquarters, cost around 12000 dollars. Since 1909 the river sands yielded over 30000 dollars using older methods, and the new process promises major industry advances.
