The Allis-Chalmers Company through agent Frank Marcy contracts with Uintah Railway for machinery to the mill and power plant. About 85 tons total freight, 25 tons to Ashley Gorge mouth, with poles and power-line work planned to Vernal.
Mrs Maggie Lurbyfill received a April 27 letter from Dr J A Coppeage of Alaureet Texas reporting her husband died April 25 at 1250 pm from wounds after being shot near Rock Ledge switch station on a Rock Island branch. The assailant Solon Owens Jr a boy about 18 fired two revolver shots and two rifle shots. Turbyfill fired back and died after suffering a painful death as Owens pursued him for two miles. The community offers sympathy to Mrs Turbyfill and children during this bitter trial.
Salt Lake City's street cars halted for two days after a strike by 450 employees. Mediator B. H. Robers brokered a settlement: for the first year 25 cents hourly raise for motor men and conductors, then 30 cents. new hires gain 10 percent. all other issues dropped. Agreement to continue as stated.

The Maeser and Academy track teams clashed with Academy scoring 54 points and Maeser 384 in a lively meet. Winners included V Watkins and Searles in multiple events, with Manwaring, Iverson and Colleier among others taking top spots. Final results unrecorded as spectators scrambled for pennants and flags.
Ephram Perks died Monday evening April 29 1807 after an 81x month illness plagued by pneumonia heart trouble and dropsy. Born October 28 1802 in England he was 54 and moved to the valley in 1879 joining the hard winter era. He leaves wife and eight children with Nettie Hyde and Isriel Perks in Magrath Canada among survivors. Funeral services were held Wednesday forenoon at the Vernal Ward house with burial in Vernal cemetery.
Cyrus A. Thompson County Fruit-Tree Inspector notes that Bordeaux mixture and Vitrel with lime both effectively destroy green aphid eggs. He reports 1906 shortages in solution ingredients, while his Sulphur Lime and Lye spray and Lawson Jarr ell’s Vitrel lime mix proved as effective in destroying eggs.
Notice requests bids to be received by secretary Herbert Tyzack up to 120 o'clock on Tuesday May 14 for 70 Bird-eye pine poles 28 feet long and 6 inches at top end to be delivered along the Ashley gorge to mill site one half mile north of Ashley Co-op. Delivery to begin June 1 and finish by July 15 1907.
Office of the Dry Gulch Irrigation Company in Roosevelt Utah announces a 25 cent per share stock assessment levied by the board on stockholders in the Lake Fork Roosevelt Harding Duchesne Sulka Cottonwood and Upper Myton Dench Areas. Payment is due by May 15 1907. Delinquent shares after June 1 will be advertised for sale and June 15 1907 sold to cover the delinquent assessment and sale costs.
Mr. Cook opened his restaurant with a noon dinner and a free evening dance. A trip to Vernal was marred by a mistaken date for a homestead dispute. Community notes speak of a May Day festival with a Queen, Maids of Honor, and a closing free dance for children at the Social Hall.
Constable J Sands leaves for a visit to Vernal while Vernal residents visit Independence ranches to improve property. Bryant runs the Independence hotel as goods arrive for the Mercantile Company, crops and oats are being planted, and freighters pass through with rates rising.

In a conversation with Johnny Davis this week, officials outlined canal construction on the Roosevelt and Lake Fork systems. Ward Ke Pack Sr, director and foreman, expects water to be turned within a week for farmers planted under the Roosevelt canal, with major extensions and future Lake Fork and Lake Pook projects planned to assure spring crops and full irrigation.

Payment due on or before May 1 1907 with delinquent shares to be sold at public auction on June 4 1907 to cover the delinquent assessments costs of sale and expenses.
