Carter Abandons Second Wildcat Near Vernal
Carter Oil Company this week announced abandonment of its Esther S No 1 wildcat located nine miles northwest of Vernal in Lapoint township Utah. The hole reached a depth of about 1,000 feet and was spurred in last December. This marks the second wildcat abandoned in the Lapoint area, following the Edna Davis No 1 near Vernal. Calder's and Piedmont dairies from Uintah County won first place at the Utah State Agricultural College Extension Service Dairy Manfacturers Short Course and Paints Show. Calder's scored 84 in homogenized milk while Piedmont achieved 93.7 in pasteurized milk. Samples were tested for bacterial content and butter fat. market samples were used without owner knowledge. Ninety percent of dairies recognized held certificates. This marks Uintah County’s first top honors in the contest.
