Uintah High seniors received statewide recognition for fund raising efforts to host a graduation party. In Vernal, they washed cars at two garages to raise money, with plans for similar projects. The Salt Lake Tribune columnist praised the students for their community spirit.
Utah State Road Commission has urged the Bureau of Public Roads to include a Manila to McKinnon Mountain View loop in the 1958 federal and primary road program. An eight mile eight is planned with a 24 foot wide oil surface, with no Vernal area plans announced.

Roosevelt Scout District sponsors a donkey basketball rodeo to raise funds for the Utah National Parks Council building campaign. Donkeys from Cliff Dunham of Crescent will be used for a one night show at Union High School gym on Friday April 8 at 7 30 pm. Proceeds support the Roosevelt Scout District office in Provo.
Robert E Lee son of Mr and Mrs Blaine Lee of Vernal completed a procurement management course at Ft Lee Virginia and was valedictorian. He returned to Bisbee Arizona where he lives with his wife and two daughters and serves as a civilian employee at Ft Huachuca Arizona.

Funeral services were held Monday at 2 p.m. in Ballard Ward for Robilene Colorow Arrum 28 who died in Salt Lake City on March 19. Born June 28 1928 at Ft Duchesne to Charlie and Mary Ankerpont Colorow she was married to Wilbur Arrum and later divorced. Survivors include her father Whiterocks a son a daughter and several sisters in Duchesne County and Denver. The Ford Foundation is noted for its recent Ver nal discussions in Winter controversy.
