Farmers Plan Green River Pumping On Leola Lands
A small group of Leola Bottoms farmers east of Leola plan to pump Green River water to irrigate 500 acres of new land. They outlined a forty foot lift into three canals, with Eneh canal running parallelly about five hundred feet apart. The group includes Walford Castian Golden Bastian Arthur Tomlinson Preston Searle Clayton Slaugh and Darrell Slaugh who seek soil analysis and financing help from Uintah Basin Soil Conservation District Farmers Home Administration and the Production and Marketing Administration to install the pumping and irrigation system. Soil tests show medium to light textured soil needing careful watering to avoid topsoil loss and lake bottom saturation, with a possible drainage plan for the lake bottom land.
