Tunnel Through Continental Divide Nears Completion
The Moat tunnel in western Colorado nears completion cutting 173 miles off Denver to Salt Lake City rail travel. At 9200 feet elevation the 16 by 24 feet bore advances day and night with electric haulage and air purification. A water tunnel and eight cross cuts connect to a planned transcontinental route via the Moffat road from Craig to Salt Lake City.
