Spring Conference Draws Large Crowds in Vernal Utah
The Uintah stake of the Latter day Saints held its spring conference in Vernal at the Stake Tabernacle with 725 present Sunday morning. Sessions covered priesthood and Relief Society instruction, with talks by Wallace Calder and Bishop Wella. A snowstorm arose Sunday afternoon and continued late, but crowds filled all sessions.

The new bail service arrived in Vernal the same night it left Salt Lake City and was read in Vernal the evening of the same day. Credit is given to Postmaster E J Young postal workers Uintah Club and Basin civic groups for securing the service.

The Sun Rise chapter of Randlett held its semi monthly meeting Saturday the 27th with about thirty members present. President Coraas led the session and F A Gross of the Uintah and Quray Indian Agency spoke on better farming and cleanup days. Mamie Johnson acted as interpreter. A planned feeding project aims to allocate ten acres to wheat and ten to oats. Two weeks hence a social and meeting will be held. The group is composed entirely of Ute Indian farmers.

Dr Earl Lewis local optician and Clinton Dodds Uintah High student veered from the road in a snowstorm near Duchesne. The car fell about twenty feet into a canyon and occupants were unconscious. Dodds recovered after four hours, Lewis injured internally and later treated at a farmhouse, then Vernal hospital.

The Club Leaders training school at Vernal ended Saturday after a week of intense instruction. Three daily periods provided by Utah hosts drew attendees from across the Basin with high enthusiasm.
