In January and February the DG-31 power equipment cleared 7000 miles of roads in grazing district No 8, aiding 30,000 sheep and easing feed shortages. A 30 Caterpillar from the CCO camp hauled sleds 35 miles to Apple’s ranch at Island Park on the Green River, with cooperation from Uintah County officials and stockmen. Pipelines for Twin Buttes reservoir and the DeVed diversion progressed, benefiting thousands of sheep. A four pillar bridge on Paddy’s Gap Truck Trail began in January and completed in February.

The Luminous Glass company of Vernal just installed a mercury vapor pump used in neon sign construction. It is one of the first pumps made by the Los Angeles factory and arrived before a trades magazine article announced its manufacture. The device reduces all neon units to one millionth of atmospheric pressure. mercury is the only liquid that will not boil at this low pressure. The firm is managed by R. Henderson with Walter MacDonald also associated.

Representative farmers to the number of fifty from all sections of the county attended the conservation meeting Monday at the court house to elect officers for 1937. J. W. Weaver was chosen president with J. Ray McKee as vice president and Th. H. Stringham to represent grazing interests. Earl Bud Preece Wan was named treasurer and R. R. Keetch, county agent, secretary.
