Congressman Don Colton plans to present achievement pins to Boys and Girls Club members who complete yearly work. Pins feature clover leaves indicating years of service, with special designs for fifth and sixth years, to be awarded at the Uintah County Fair.
Civic groups in Vernal meet at the Commercial club to discuss the Livestock Show and May Day Carnival. A committees on committees is formed and plans begin for a stock show, Boys and Girls clubs convention, and judging guidance with Utah Agricultural College support.
State road commission maintenance engineer John R. Stewart inspected Ashley Creek bridge on the Victory highway and ordered piling drives in front of abutments and wing extensions plus center channel piling to force water under the bridge. A 20 foot replacement bridge will be built nearby.
Representative William H. Siddoway and Mrs Siddoway returned home from Salt Lake City Tuesday. He criticized much legislative work but praised several bills and amendments. He noted reduced salaries, office abolitions, and funds secured for Fort Duchesne bridge repairs, while praising school funding and urging rigid economy in school district administration.
Professor Charles G. Maler told Salt Lake City engineers that gasoline at 40 cents a gallon would push oil shale into commercial viability. He noted potential by products and noted Utah deposits of alum containing potash and aluminum, with experimental work underway. He added that with the necessary power, zinc deposits in the state might be developed.
Hon Theos W O'Donnell attorney in several district court cases at Duchesne left Monday morning to attend court duties.
The Vernal Gun and Rifle club elected the same officers led by L H Allan as president with 65 paid members and a drive to add 100 members. Plans include a hunting preserve on Green river, club grounds near hunting areas, and a spring dance. Will H Cook reported Uintah and Duchesne counties will receive 180000 eastern Brook trout for distribution to lakes and streams with help from the club and Ashley forestry. fish stocking aims to involve 300 pack horses and volunteers.

Mrs Will N Cook of Tridell with seven children travels to meet husband in Bingham where he works. In Salt Lake City area he acts oddly, refuses help, and locks his wife and family at Hotel Utah as deputies intervene to take him into custody after a tense confrontation.
One of Uintah county’s largest farm meetings is set for the Vernal Second Ward Chapel Saturday at 2 p.m. The morning session will elect county officers from fourteen local farm bureaus. Farmers are urged to attend to hear plans for organization and cooperation for the coming year and to foster agricultural prosperity.
Granville Adair, son of Mr and Mrs H Adair, left Friday for Salt Lake City to enlist in Company K Infantry at Fort Douglas Utah for three years. His father had trained at Fort Douglas last summer and supported Army life despite a handcuffed episode. He was later taken to Provo and placed in a mental hospital. Manager Ralph of Hotel Utah aided Mrs Cook and children with care and no charge for their stay.
Judge Hanson sentences John Aime to prison for manufacturing bootleg whisky. The case moves to the state Supreme Court after a denied motion for a new trial. Aime receives a $1000 bond and 60 days to answer, with no less than three months and up to two years in the state prison.
Pupils at Uintah and Willcox academies enjoyed a six lecture series by H Walter Woolley assistant cashier of Uintah State Bank. Lectures titled The General Idea of the Bank The Bank Check Character the Basis of Bank Credit Loaning the Banks Money The Bank and Your Investment and The Relationship Between the Farmer and the Banker. First three talks printed for patrons of Uintah State Bank.
Governor Mabey signed a bill creating a second judgeship in the Fourth Judicial District to take effect after January 1, 1926 and elect a judge in November. The same action abolishes the state road engineer office and places road work under the state trend commission, effective April 1.
Delegates from most sections of Du cheane and Uintah counties attended a Roosevelt meeting to unite Uintah Basin interests and raise funds for large cooperative development projects. Committees are soliciting communities and Roosevelt area shows strong results with over 3400 dollars subscribed before formal committee work.
At a Thursday afternoon gathering the Vernal Farm Bureau elected Ernest Eaton president John Weist vice president and Snellen Johnson secretary treasurer. Directors are William Gillman and Ellis Merkley. Asher Merkley named Bays club leader and Mrs Ellis Merkley Girls club leader. Other project leaders to be chosen later for eight plus projects fostered.
A 1923 letter from Fourth Assistant Postmaster General H. H. Billary warns that if the Helper to Vernal Duchesne road is not kept open year round, Federal Aid mail service to the Uintah Basin could be suspended. J. T. Tullis of Price Utah reports that Basin residents support keeping the highway open to ensure winter mail access.
The March term presided by Judge Elias Hanson saw one jury impaneled besides the John Aime trial. Foreclosure action by Western Livestock and Loan Co against J. Newton for deficiency was decided at 715 dollars plus costs after sale proceeds. Other filings included two divorce actions and many civil probate and criminal cases carried over to the next term.
The Whiterocks Farm Bureau organized with B. Fred Sargent as president and Charles Gates as secretary. The group aims to establish livestock, turkey and hog projects, with a pig club and calf club for Indian boys and a Girls' club leader to guide youth projects.
