Edwin John Longhurst 51 died at Tastey East Lake City hospital. Funeral held at Second Ward chapel with Bishop Owen Slaugh in charge. Tributes read by Iva Hatch. Interment at World Memorial Park. Longhurst born January 22 1865 in Salt Lake City. LDS church worker with missions in England and Colorado. He married Adaline Pope in 1884 and moved to Vernal in 1685. He had two foster sons and no biological children. He was a High Priest and counselor in the Stake Genealogical Society.

Funeral Services for Lo Eyeng Dated March 7 at Sochward
Funeral services for Lo Eyeng died at home after a three week illness were held Monday at 2:00 pm in the Sochward. Eyeng, born April 1900, lived in that area since 1928 and married Evela Hansen. He worked in war materiel production and later operated a business, with pallbearers including Rudi Goodrick and Don Tiered. The Vernal Merudria Park grove was dedicated by Rulon, a brother in law. Survived by four sisters in California and Utah.

Red Cross Nurse Relates Experience With Russians
Mrs John Lamberts of Ft Duchesne recounts a Red Cross nurse story from wartime captivity with Russians. The group including nurses and one male helper were grounded on a Russian air field after running out of gas, barred from leaving the plane, and forced to await an interpreter. They were fed fried rice, black bread, land apples, hot water with milk, and other sparse rations while Russians searched for the first crew.

Fort Duchesne Merchant Receives Minor Injuries
Fort Duchesne merchant sustained minor injuries and was taken to Uintah Basin Hospital after a highway collision reported by investigating officers. Evidence suggested both vehicles were in the center of the highway at impact. Mrs Hack ing and Mr Hacking were also involved and receiving treatment in Salt Lake City.

Didian Childs Drowns in Lee Duchesne River
Littla Mervin Mart a two and a half year old Indian child drowned last Tuesday in the Duchesne river while attempting to wade across to play with other children. The drowning occurred near Ft Duchesne at the home of Lee Loni Apparas. The uncle told investigators the child had been carried across the river several times to play with other children.

Auto Crash East of Vernal Fatal to Laurence Taylor
Laurence Taylor of Salt Lake City died in a crash on Highway 40 about twenty four miles east of Vernal. The truck he drove overturned after hitting a guard wheel, pinning him under the wreckage. He left a wife Janet Walsh Taylor and three sons, plus his parents, siblings, and many relatives.
