Vernal Delegation Seeks Echo Park Dam Support in Denver

A Vernal chamber delegation led by B H Stringham hopes to present Secretary Oscar Chapman with further arguments for building Echo Park Dam within the Dinosaur National Monument. March of Dimes Reaches Two Thousand Dollars in Uintah

The Uintah county drive for the March of Dimes raised 2039 dollars with an overall total of 2069 dollars reported by J. D. Jones, committee chairman. Kiwanis Club and local groups organized the campaign with district leaders and school teachers aiding, while additional contributions were expected from outlying districts.

Ralph Siddoway Heads Ashley Woolgrowers Group

Ralph Siddoway, retiring President of Uintah County, was named head of Ashley Woolgrowers Association at their annual convention held Saturday in the Field House. Leaders from state agencies attended as guests while reports on big game regulation and grazing impact were heard. The group voted to back forest regulation plans and to support a state bounty on coyotes and bobcats as damages from wildlife concerns were discussed.

Young Daughter of Slaugh Dies of Illness in Vernal

Sheila Rae Slaugh, four year old daughter of Darrel D. and Berta Ellitritz Slaugh of Vernal, died in Jocst hospital Tuesday at 1 05 p m from intestinal flu. Born December 1949 in the area, she is survived by her parents and four grandparents. Funeral services Wednesday at 2 p m in Davis Ward Chapel Church of Jesus Christ of Latter day Saints.

Vernal approves pool bond by narrow margin

A 38 vote margin secures a $25,000 city share bond for a $65,000 pool at Ci Park Vernal. Precincts split 50 50 in two, with 72 yes in Precinct 3 and 64 yes in Precinct 4, totaling 138 yes 100 no. City plans summer use funded by county 25 000 and Vernal Junior Chamber 15 000. The public favored park site over the high school site.
