All Amateur Rodeo Set Friday, Saturday
About 100 top amateur cowboys from Utah Colorado and Wyoming will attend the annual All Amateur Rodeo presented by the Vernal Roping Club. Events begin at 8 pm each night at the fair grounds with prize money from last year exceeding 2000 dollars. Major arena events include saddle bronc bareback bronc riding bull riding calf roping steer roping and ribbon roping. Closing books for Friday and Saturday are at 2 pm. Damages After Semi Flips North of Vernal
About 300 dollars in damages were reported when a 1959 Autocar semi rollover occurred 37 miles north of Vernal Thursday around 7 p.m. The truck driven by Lorn Edward Williams, 38, of Sid West, was cited for failure to stop at a stop sign. Vehicle owned by Bob Jones Trucking Co. The incident happened on U44 near the junction with U260 as Williams began a right turn after stopping to drop a passenger. Trooper R M Helm investigated.

Pickup Throws Eight Year Old In Highway Accident
An eight year old boy, David G. Marth, sustained a possible concussion and multiple injuries after being pitched from the back of an old Ford pickup, carrying four occupants, near Vernal. Driver Max Eugene Martin, 17, said the vehicle veered off the road, hit a bump while attempting to reenter, and sent two riders flying. He and investigators from the Highway Patrol, led by Troop M. Helm, continue to probe the crash as another occupant remained uninjured.

Lawmen Seek Theft Suspects in Stolen Auto
City police chief Claudius A Banks reported two suspects fled after stealing about 700 dollars in cash and checks from the Chevron Service Station at 215 West Main. The robbery was discovered Tuesday at 2 am. The station, run by Tren and Scott Hirscht, housed a 1954 Oldsmobile owned by Willard Karp staying at the Commercial Hotel.
