Strawberry Route to Salt Lake Favored at Hearing
At a Vernal hearing Tuesday the Utah Public Utilities Commission heard a compromise proposal for two freight routes. The Sterling Transportation firm would run Salt Lake to Vernal, while basin firms would operate Price to Vernal, with a draft for a shared Price Vernal franchise and a possible new chattered company to serve Duchesne to Vernal. Local officials and farm bureau members stressed the basin’s need for transportation to move livestock, hay, and crops, and urged rapid rate setting and service expansion.
