The Vernal Rodeo and Race Meet closed with prize money totaling 3950 dollars. Top attractions included the Uintah Basin Pioneers Parade and the big western dances. Rodeo president Wiley Baucam praised community support and thanked the rodeo committee for a successful show.
A two day meeting of the Utah-Nevada Hotel Association board of governors was held at Hotel Vernal with A. W. Shephe and Mrs. Shepherd hosting. Attendees included Sam Standard of the Newhouse Hotel Salt Lake City president. Clarence E. Horsley of the Carlton Reno vice president. Clarence L. West Salt Lake treasurer. Robert Cannon of Hotel Saint Frontier Las Vegas chair.Li Chase Cortez Las Vegas board member. Campbell Eccles Ben Hotel general manager. notes indicate continuation on page 4 and plans for an entertainment program for hosts, with invitations extended to those who worked on the project.

Pacific Northwest Pipeline Corp plans the 1486 mile natural gas line beginning in September, delivering gas to the Pacific Northwest from Colorado, Utah, Wyoming, Idaho, Oregon and Washington. Initial daily deliveries target 250 million cubic feet rising to 346 million by the third year, with financing totaling 120 million in first mortgage bonds 18 million in interim notes and 22 million in common stock. Major suppliers include Phillips Petroleum Skelly Oil Stanolind Gas Colorado Oil and Gas Chicago Corporation Sinclair and Delco Petroleum.
A Monday afternoon crash on Main Street between Second and Third West in Vernal involved four cars and caused minor property damage. No injuries were reported initially, with police citing pending citations after investigating by Chief Jack Boren and Officer Earl Labrum.
The Federal Power Commission approved Pacific Northwest Pipeline's plan to build a 1,466 mile natural gas line from Ignacio Colorado through Utah to a Seattle area terminal with branches to Rock Springs Wyoming and other points. Uintah School District hires five new staff this week led by a new Uly High football coach air G. Allen from Providence. Allen replaces Chris Axelgard and brings coaching experience in football and physical education from USAC where he earned a masters. Also joining are Alger Cornu to teach mathematics Janese Tanner and Wallace Nelson among BYU graduates slated to replace retiring staff at Naples School and others in the district.
Adult swimming classes and diving lessons are scheduled at the Vernal Swimming Pool starting this Thursday night. Sessions will continue Mondays and Thursdays with an emphasis on safety, basic skills, and water confidence under an expert instructor.
