At the city council meeting the final reading of the new water rate ordinance was approved unanimously. Mayor George H Crunkshank presided with all councilmen present as Vernal moves toward a self supporting system. The new rates will keep the system financially viable while encouraging yard and lawn beautification by maintaining a rate of one quarter of a cent per square yard semi annually.
