Electric Charge Takes Life of Lyte Johnson

Lyte Johnson died after an electrical accident at St Burlingford bus station on Main Street. A bystander group attempted revival with Dr Ralph Heyst ed and Dr John M Clark assisting, while the victim, born February 9 1925 in Vernal, had shown notable talent in electricity at Uintah junior high.

Government approves loan for rural electrification project

The government approves a 285000 loan to fund poles and lines for rural communities in Duchesne and Uintah counties. Clyde S Johnson will oversee surveys and platting with construction supervised by the government. Moon Lake Electric Association extends the plan with 25000 advance from the REA for a power plant and 220 miles of line serving 681 members.

Bert Singleton Dies After Long Illness in Maeser

Bert Singleton a Uintah county farmer and resident since 1902 died at home in Maeser after a lengthy illness. Born September 13 1874 in Provo he was a son of Pred and Matilda Singleton. Survived by wife daughter Marie a physical education instructor and two sons Marvin and Verdin with siblings Fred Linyd Leo Arthur and several sisters. Funeral at Maeser ward chapel with interment in Maeser cemetery under Bishop Lester Bingham.

Pioneer Miner Cattleman Buried Here

Pioneer Hyrum Meeks a longtime miner and cattleman from Orderville died at about 46 and was buried in the Saver Reef mine area. The funeral at Fern Sel Ward Chapel June 13 featured speakers Bishop Boyle and Isaac Burton, with a mixed Naples quartet and local pallbearers. Relatives from Castle Dale Hiawatha and Orderville attended. the service included prayers by Melvin Wilkitts and benediction by Win M Turner.

Road Worker James Humphries Dies in Salt Lake Visit

Vernal road worker James Humphries died of a heart attack in Salt Lake City after visiting with two companions. The group stopped at a barbecue stand and theatre before taking Humphries to a camp where attempts at revival failed. He was employed by a contracting firm.

Work continues on a county road east of Vernal as a WPA crew under F R Remington and David Eilts reshapes the grade and improves the cemetery road area. Air Conditioning Installed on Rail Case Route

The drill car, formerly the Mi for Case, completed the installation of an air conditioning system. One case remains to be equipped between Salt Lake and Denver at U 840. Manager Leon Christensen said he attended a directors meeting of the Colorado River Great Basin project in Salt Lake City last week. Twelve crews work on surveys and land classification for the project.
