16 000 Cubic Yards of Concrete Poured in Flaming Gorge
Concrete is being poured into the Flaming Gorge dam at about 16 000 cubic yards per week. J R Walton USBR project construction engineer reported last weekend that the top of the highest block is 302 feet above bedrock. Work runs three shifts daily six to seven days weekly, with about 93 000 cubic yards poured since spring. The $29 million dam, outlet works, and powerhouse are included. The aggregate plant operates one 10 hour shift daily with occasional extra shifts east of Linwood.

T nightingale president of Mountain Fuel Supply said regulatory approval for the Uintah Basin transmission project boosts regional development. The Utah Public Service Commission confirmed the plan of MFS and Utah Natural Gas Co and assured Wasatch Front gas supply. The 103 mile line with capacity of 100 million cubic feet daily is to be let in June and may be operative before November. Over 1.26 trillion cubic feet of reserves under half a million acres were committed to the project, with 31 drilling sites planned and about 60 more likely this year. Nightingale criticized a finding about potential rate effects, noting no evidence was presented on loss of the largest industrial customer and urging preparedness to substantiate possible rate relief.
