Divers prepare for deep diving at Flaming Gorge Dam work

Divers begin preparations for early June operation at Flaming Gorge Dam as part of the intake modification. Marine Service Ltd. of Seattle moved in with a diving barge and decompression gear, supervised by A B McCutchen. Osberg Construction is prime contractor. Doctors will monitor divers at 100 to 200 feet depth in 40 degree water with water temperature and elevation near a mile above sea level. The project aims to make selective withdrawal to release warmer surface water for aquatic life while reducing drought effects on the Green River. A large German Brown trout rumor is dismissed as unfounded. biologists say water near the dam remains too cold for giant fish at withdrawal depth.
