Six Roping Clubs Plan Free Show in Vernal

Six Utah roping clubs announce a free August 2 event in Vernal featuring livestock and agriculture displays. Oil Worker Dies In Car Crash East of Jensen

One man died and two were injured in a vehicle crash east of Jensen early Friday morning. Victim identified as William W. Landreth of Oklahoma, driver of the car, died after the vehicle plunged down an 18 foot embankment. Shirley Scott and Vernal DeVona Cook, both ages 18, sustained bruises. The crash occurred at 12 05 am as the car left the highway. The body was sent to the home of the mother for burial.

Jennie Longhair Buried Saturday at Fort Duchesne

Jennie Longhair 48 of Fort Duchesne died Monday in a Salt Lake hospital after a lengthy illness. Born January 9 1904 in Uintah Basin, she was the daughter of Thomas and Lie Yanowit and lived her life in the Fort Duchesne area. Survived by husband two sons Harry and LeRoy Longhair both of Roosevelt and a daughter Lottia Longhair of Wyoming. Funeral services were held July 26 at White Rocks Mission with burial in Fort Duchesne.

Mrs Fern Frye Dies In Denver

Mrs Fern Frye who lived in Denver for 17 years died there on July 27 after a long illness. She was 37, born December 14, 1914, to Julia Stevenson and Steven Thompson. Funeral services were held in the Davis ward chapel with burial at Vernal Memorial Park Cemetery. Surviving husband Carl E Frye and her father Steven Thompson, two sisters Mrs Wilma Abegglen of Vernal and Mrs Gladys Roper of Oxden, and a brother Erwin Thorny son of Yampa, Colorado.
