Special to Express funeral services for Mrs Walter M McCoy who died Saturday July 22 were held at the McCoy residence with Sylvania Collett presiding. The large gathering included Congressman Don B Colton and 8 D Colton. Interment was in Maeser cemetery. She leaves husband Walter M McCoy six children and siblings.

Pioneer Day Celebrations Draw Large Crowds Across Maeser Naples
Large crowds attended Pioneer day events at Maeser and Naples with strong programs. Congressman Don B. Colton and George A. Slaugh spoke, sports impressed attendees, and a 20 to 24 Naples win over Jensen plus 15 to 16 Maeser victory framed the day. Harold Colton fractured his arm in a boy’s race, a veteran pioneer guest honored, and a Naples parade celebrated early pioneer life.

Vernal Band Plans 20 Day Utah Idaho Wyoming Tour
The Vernal band of 25 under Prof W H H Burgenaer departs August 10 for a 20 day tour through Utah Idaho and Wyoming to Yellowstone. They will promote Uintah Basin with ads at every stop and are joined by soloists including Prof William F Hanson. A concert and testimonial for the group is set for August 9 at the Orpheus.

A gray whale seen off Moclips Washington played in shallow surf for 20 to 80 minutes. It rolled and surfaced, then settled with a gentle splash and appeared to rub barnacles and parasites from its hide along the sandy beach.
