Carl Garrett Davis a former Uintah high coach and extension poultryman at Utah State Agricultural College was selected as Duchesne County agricultural agent and will begin in August. He brings agronomy and animal husbandry training, plus years in extension and teaching, to the county post. He is married with four children and his wife Elva Eaton is active in community affairs.
Roosevelt hosts Pioneer Day events as Uintah and Duchesne counties join in a full day program led by the Roosevelt junior chamber. Bands from Uintah and Duchesne schools march in the parade, a sunrise Legion salute starts ceremonies, and a Daughter of the Utah Pioneers pageant follows.
Adelbert Colton 81 whose death followed paralysis on July 18 was honored with funeral services Saturday at 11 a.m. in the First Ward chapel. Speakers included Chas H Colton and President Archie. Pallbearers from Odd Fellows Lodge No 24 attended, and interment was in Maeser cemetery after the lodge ceremony. Colton, born in Provo in 1858, lived in Maeser since 1884 and left a widow, five children, twelve grandchildren, and five great grandchildren.
