Livestock Report: Range Drying But Overall Good
Uintah County agricultural agents report the general livestock condition as good while ranges dry rapidly and stock water becomes scarce on some ranges. Compared with 1962, 95 percent of the first and 90 percent of the second crop alfalfa seed will be cut, with water shortages and increased insect damage. Hay production in 1983 should be adequate for livestock, though many farmers plan to sell hay elsewhere, and little rain fell on farmland or winter range in higher areas.
