Fishing opens high waters bring bountiful catches
The opening of the fishing season in high country streams drew a large turnout on Tuesday with many anglers reporting limits by dawn. Former Vernal Rodeo President Recalls Early Shows
Jack Douglass of Greybull Wyoming, a former Vernal rodeo president for 1937 38 39, attended the 1952 show and recalled how riders were locals and cattle were driven from Rock Springs. He noted public subscriptions funded early rodeos and that the event became self sustaining in 1939 with 1600 dollars in the treasury. Douglass, now a 300 acre ranch owner, said he enjoyed the current show and will always cherish Vernal rodeos.
