Asphalt Haul To Myton Project Nears End
The 45 trucks operate two shifts daily hauling rock asphaltum from the Vernal plant to the Myton Roosevelt project on 0.8 miles, nearing completion by week’s end. Three asphalt projects Duchesne Tarsis and Fruitland are set for summer finish with oil sealing and new surfaces planned for several miles, including a gilsonite oil mix on a turn near Myton and a future Roevelt Fort Duchesne paved route.

Junior Chamber of Commerce Holds Initiation
A Vernal Utah chapter installation event was led by Nelson W Aldrich and Leland K Irvine with thirty members at Green Lakes north of Vernal. Irvine touted Salt Lake Junior Chamber links and planned speedboat racing while Aldrich noted national growth of the Junior Chamber. Charles W Sandles Found Dead in Hotel Room
Charles W. Sandles, a well known Vernal Lions district governor, was found dead Saturday in his room at the News House hotel. He had been confined to his room for days with an acute intestinal ailment. The hotel manager found him after he did not request dinner. Idaho Falls police were notified to contact relatives. his only known survivors are two sons in Pocatello.

Primary Convention Held Here Last Thursday
Uintah Stake Primary held a successful convention in Vernal at the First Ward chapel on Thursday June 25. Free Barbecue At Gun Club Celebration
Plans call for barbecued beef to feed over a thousand people at Iron Springs on Saturday noon July 4 as the Vernal Gun Club holds its annual Riot. A daylight salute at 4:00 am wakes Ashley Valley residents who will start for the mountain after breakfast before the 9:00 am program. Build Utah Approved by Press Association
The Build Utah program of the Utah Manufacturers Association won approval from newspaper publishers and editors at a Utah State Press association meeting in Cedar City.
