Withholding Tax Goes Into Effect Today in Utah

Officials explained that forgiveness up to 7 percent of the 1942 tax liability does not reduce taxes owed. A 29 percent withholding on wages reflects deductions after credits. The 20 percent includes the victory tax now 5 percent on yearly income above 3624. Examples show a married man with no children earning 50 weekly sees most of deductions credited against this year’s tax. A married man without dependents earning 2800 annually will owe about 232 this year with credits and withholdings covering this year’s tax, but remains liable for an unforgiven quarter of last year’s income.
