U S Sport Fisheries and Wildlife has filed suit in U S District Court to condemn 863 acres in Uintah County for inclusion in Ouray National Wildlife Refuge. Surveying Crew Member Finds Ancient Fossil in Ouray Area

Army Private Leigh Completes 26 Week Repair Course
Pvt. Raymond A Leigh son of Ambrose E Leigh of Vernal Utah completed a 26 week office machine repair course at the Army Quartermaster School Fort Lee Virginia. He learned to repair typewriters adding machines calculators and duplicating machines after entering the Army in April 1953 and finishing basic at Fort Ord California. The 11 year old solder attended Uintah High School.

Fire Damages Home and Bridge in Ouray Area
Fires damaged a Vernal home at 303 East 2nd So when an overheated furnace sparked a blaze Wednesday evening. Mrs Gurule and children were inside but unharmed as insurance covered the losses. The next morning a second fire on the old bridge along the Green River caused minor damage during creekside salvage work. Firefighters traveled 50 miles to reach the scene.

Federal Budget Seeks Four Million For Utah Parks
