Statue of D C Jackling to Be Placed in Capitol
A tenacious eight foot statue honoring Col Diet D. C. Jackling, founder of California Copper Co and pioneering mining engineer, will be installed in the Utah State Capitol rotunda this summer. Dr Avard Fairbanks chairs the committee, with Kennecott Copper Corp funding $45 000. Jackling, who helped develop open pit mining and processing methods, led several major copper firms and retired in 1924 to focus on industry work.
