A three man coroner's jury ruled Warren Avery Harp 2A died of a brain hemorrhage not from a blow by a companion. The Invest was at Vernal Mortuary with Judge Earl J Freeman. jurors Ken Stringham Martin Curtis and Stanley King. Harp lived at 383 East Second South and died early Sunday after an outing with his wife Eldon Winn Macser and others. the night ended with three members inside while Hamp remained.

Oil workman electrocuted at Ashley field in Vernal
A 40 year old Stanolind Oil and Gas employee Gary D Leech was electrocuted Wednesday at Ashley field while replacing a floodlight on a storage tank. He was found by coworkers about 5 pm and died from burns. He had worked seven years with Stanolind and lived in Vernal. Funeral plans are pending. Leech’s mother, sister, and brother live in California.

Mothers clubs in Vernal City will call on every home Friday January 29 from 1 pm to 6 pm to canvass for the March of Dimes. Under Breda Davin and Lucille Watkins, the event centers at Hotel Vernal with house to house visits. Local clubs include Merry Mrs, St Paul Guild, Klwanis anna, Ladies Ald, Lady Stona, Progres sive Arts, Utopia and Kingsbury Guild. The drive seeks more gamma globulin funding as the 1954 quota aims higher. last year Utah contributed 5188.24.

John Ten Merkley aged 64 died near Vernal Utah on Tuesday after a barn incident. Funeral services are planned for Friday at noon in the chapel with burial at Crescent Cemetery. Survivors include his son Harold and daughter Melba.

Fire destroys 100 hogs near Vernal. losses hit thousands
About one hundred hogs valued between two and four thousand dollars were burned Sunday morning near Vernal. The fire started in a pen due to overheated heating and light, flames engulfed the tar paper roof, but Vernal Fire Department prevented further losses. Owner La Rell Anderson of Uintah Packing Company reported the incident as a total loss for the affected pen.
