Mim Margaret Stewart Nichol learns from an official letter that her husband Staff Sergeant Bruce Nicholson Jr was killed in action October 1942 while serving in German-held territory in Western Europe. They wed in Anchorage Alaska May 1941. he reenlisted after Pearl Harbor and served as a gunner first class with US Army Air Forces. Continued on Page eight.

Maeser Water System Expands to Serve More Homes
Maeser residents benefited from a new water system added earlier, with a bond of 13000 approved in the fall of 1936 for a more adequate setup. An eight inch main extends from near Joseph Hackings to Vernal City lines, feeding several local blocks and homes. The Maeser Water Works owns part of the supply and Vernal City the rest. additional pipes connect to Bodily, Richards, Maeser Store, and nearby homes as the system grows. (Continued on Page Three)

Friday night at the local gym the Utes defeated Tabiona 56 to 33 on the Utes floor. Don Walker of Uintah led with 26 points. Garr Jones and Clark Roberts scored over 50 percent each. Tabiona’s Williams impressed for the visitors with 20 points in the main game. A junior varsity tilt between the two sides ended with Tabiona taking the win. Coach Letsrande Tee praised both teams’ freshmen and sophomores for future potential. Albert Lopez starred on Uintah’s second team. Next league games schedule Roosevelt, Duchesne, and Winnah. Wool School May be Held in February
Ashley Woolgrowers officials will meet Friday to decide if a wool school will be hosted again in February. Rationing Head Warns of Illegal Gas Stamp Use
Rationing chairman Alvin E Weeks said stamp No 4 is being used illegally before it becomes valid January 22. Several gas rationing books are lost and the Ration Board will issue duplicates only with conclusive evidence. Citizens should turn found books to the board within five days. Further rationing in February will cover meat flour and clothing.
