Indian land page on irrigation and tenancy policy
The report notes page one rent water for irrigation to Indian land but new policy ends rental to White farmers, risking subsistence for farm families. Utah’s small holdings worsen the issue with many farms under three acres. In Washington County land per capita is low, signaling a critical problem. Irrigation expansion and better use of existing water may help. Large livestock operators dominate nearby range land, undermining small communities. Deseret News.
