Leger Construction Co of Vernal won the bid at 274200 for a 9500 square foot two level office building on 2nd South west Vernal LDS Seminary site. Other bids ranged from 277022 to 291498. project to be built in about 210 working days. Architects are Silver-Alison and Associates of Salt Lake City.

The Uintah Basin Soil Conservation District invites farmers and residents to participate in meetings on January 27 in Duchesne Roosevelt and Vernal. Gaylord Scott M Matheson named three new judges on Monday including Gordon R Hall a 50 year old Third District judge and Vernal native. Hall will replace retiring Chief Justice F Henri Henroid and Ellett becomes chief justice. Also named to the Third District was Davis K Winder 4 and Cedar City attorney Joseph E Jackson 41 to Fourth District Juvenile Court. Vandals destroy landfill propane tank near Vernal City

Lyman Merkley Vernal City works superintendent says a 250 gallon propane tank at the Unitat County Vernal City sanitary landfill was blown from its concrete enclosure during Wednesday night vandalism. Officials suspect dynamite used. burned paper found around the structure. gas shut off after hours. about 5000 dollars in property damage noted over the past year.

Juveniles fined in destruction case

Four juvenile cases were disposed of Thursday Jan 11 for alleged property destruction. Total fines amount to 275 dollars with 107.50 dollars restitution and probation for three youths. A fourth had minimal involvement and avoided probation. The driver involved was restrained from driving indefinitely and his license taken. A gun was impounded and property included a killed family pet and a damaged pickup tire. Probation terms will be set by court order with at least weekly reports. under Utah law probation may extend to age 21.

Myton Receives EPA Grant for Sewer System Upgrade

Senator Jake Garn announced on Tuesday that Myton has been awarded 23 100 dollars by the Environmental Protection Agency to support construction of waste water treatment works. The funds will directly support plans to improve Myton's sewer system.
