Diversion Damar Lake Fork River Project Begins Near Alytonah
Construction starts on a new diversion dam for Lake Fork No 1's canal about three miles west and two miles north of Alytonah. Dry Gulch Irrigation Co leads the project with Alden White chairing Uintah Basin Soil Conservation District and Clyde Kelsey overseeing Roosevelt contract work. The dam replaces a flood-damaged 29 year old structure and includes 1700 feet of new canals and 2000 feet of access road. The SCS funds most of the cost, with the Dry Gulch group paying about 80 percent and the SCS contributing over 1,000 for temporary channel repairs last spring.

Fire broke out at the home of George Swett Ashley Ward Friday at about 4 P M damaging walls and ceiling near the flue believed to have caused it. Damages are estimated and this marks the first fire of 1953. Firemen answered a fifty two call during 1952. There were eight fires during January last.
