Babson Sets 1953 Outlook For Business and Finance
Babson outlines a cautious 1953 with high early activity followed by slower growth. He predicts price controls and government policy will affect margins, defense spending fading, and a possible gradual economic adjustment. He urges strong cost control, aggressive selling, and warns of unemployment rising later in the year amid continued labor tensions. He notes a conservative shift in Congress and limited money supply expansion under Eisenhower.
