Two teenagers, escapees from a California detention home, are held for investigation of armed robbery at Maude's Cafe. They surrendered at the Commercial Hotel after a moonhunt led by sheriff’s office and allies. A lookout car fled east then south then into a ditch near 5th East and 2nd South.

Pleas for Activity and Service Made At Uintah Stake Conference
The first Uintah Stake conference of the reorganized LDS Church stressed urgent activity and service to fellow men. Stake President Frank R. Indian Claims Group Favors Utes in Land Grievance
The United States must pay the Uintah Ute Indians of Utah for about seven million acres taken long ago. The Indian Claims Commission in Washington ruled in two 1949 cases that the Uintahs owned the land until takings for public use or disposal under public land laws. Final acreage and compensation will be decided later, with values pegged to the date of the taking.
